Our ethos

We’ve told you about our skills, which is pretty fundamental when you’re trusting your people in our hands.  Below we outline our ethos and guiding principles that inform how we operate the Wellbeing Folk organisation.

  • Conscious Capitalism

We understand that the world isn’t a level playing field financially. And it is for that very reason that we will speak with you and get a better understanding of your organisation’s needs and what is a fair and reasonable price. From an ethical standpoint, our commitment to conscious capitalism helps us embody our responsibility throughout our organisation. We hold value universally across the board with our staff, the environment and how we influence society at large, not just our profits. This is inherent in ethical practices throughout the Wellbeing Folk, whether it is remuneration, suppliers, responsibly sourcing products and services, or sustainable operations and engagement. Our ethical stance strengthens trust, fosters transparency, and builds a reputation for integrity. In essence, conscious capitalism isn't solely about maximising profit; it's about doing business right, ethically and sustainably, for all of us.

  • Circular Economy

We believe that everyone should flourish and thrive in this world. And whilst we can’t control the world stage or its economics, we can make sure that all of our staff receive a fair and reflective rate of pay. Why is this important to us? It’s not just about recognising the meaningful contribution our Wellbeing Folk make, it also sees this money go back into the local economy so that others are able to grow and thrive. And so it goes on. You thrive, we thrive, they thrive, we all thrive. We also go beyond and embrace environmental responsibility, recognising connection between resource use, human wellbeing, and social justice. By minimising waste, we challenge a throwaway culture that exploits people and planet. Ethical sourcing of materials, fair workforce practices within the circular value chain, and ensuring equitable access to products and services are central tenets. We celebrate and strive toward working in a way that takes us to a more ethical and equitable economic system, where prosperity is linked to planetary health and the wellbeing of all.

  • Sustainability

We’re working towards becoming a zero waste company. We use repurposed materials and minimise all single use materials. This includes sustainable cleaning products that don’t pollute the environment and washable cleaning cloths rather than disposable towel paper. Any products we use, such as massage wax or yoga mats, are from sustainable sources. Where possible, public transport is used. We keep a carbon calculator of any mileage undertaken in cars and make sure we offset this through the variety of schemes available - e.g. planting a tree etc. We love this planet that we live on, and we want to make sure we do not contribute to its demise.

  • Giving back

The way we work at the Wellbeing Folk is designed in a way that sees us giving back. This is done in a plethora of ways where we offer charities and social enterprises no cost wellbeing specialism and expertise. This can be at one-off events, or by offering up no cost regular bodywork or mindfulness sessions at local charities. We reinvest revenue back into our organisation to allow us to do this ethically by paying our practioners, which means we are also not exploiting our people. In a nutshell, all our therapists and practitioners still get paid all the while providing access and opportunity to wellbeing brilliance for those most in need. By working with us, you are pivotal in sustaining and supporting our conscious, ethical way of being.

We bring experience of working in the field as practitioners and strategic understanding of the wider impact that the domains of health and wellness can have on the individual, teams, departments and organisations.  Adopting our ethos of conscious capitalism and circular economy means we have competitive yet fair rates across our organisation, meaning our therapists and practitioners also receive fair and competitive rate too. We do not charge a premium to you and then pay our practitioners little more than minimum living wage. Here at the Wellbeing Folk, we value and celebrate expertise - every single one of our therapists and practitioners undergo rigorous evaluation prior to being added to our organisation. We are exceptional in our quality, and should you be anything but fully satisfied with your experience, we want to know and we will work with you to make it right through collaborative conversations and reach an outcome we are all happy with.  If pushed, we’d say our bottom line was quality with integrity.

What makes us different?

Rhian and Susan, founders of the Wellbeing Folk, have worked at all levels within organisations alongside time-served, excellent practitioners who understand physical, emotional and mental wellbeing and have a richness of skills and understanding to draw on. Offering workplace seated massage for a specific employee event, or investing in long-term workforce wellbeing through a blend of on-site massage, weekly meditation and mindfulness sessions for stress management, access to regular yoga sessions or getting our simple yet effective remedial body boosters focussed around the physical impacts of desk based computer focussed working, we can help.

Together, we make this world better. You in?
